passport getting expired due to delay in procesing

Post by bn96 » Tue Oct 14, 2008 6:21 pm

Hi,

I got HSMP approval letter & applied for EC on 27th Aug. My passport expires on 15-apr-2009.. I have put my date of travel as 5th-oct & applied for visa.. so, as required by EC rules, i had more than 6 months of passport validity from the date of my intended travel date.. as i thought it will only take a month or a max of 5 weeks for visa, i thought this passport validity is good enough..

Now, as i still didn't get the visa, it looks to me that that the 6 month passport validity criteria may create issue.. As u see as per EC rules, i had 6 months of validity from my intended date of travel.. But it is due their delay, things got screwed up..

Please suggest whether this will be an issue & how to handle now ?

- Bobby.

It isn't your fault. I would just wait for the embassy to either return your passport with a visa, or to request that you renew your passport (because of the 6 month issue). Either way, it shouldn't be an issue, just wait for their instructions.
