Got Tier-1(General) VISA on Sept 2008

Hi ,
I got UK tier-1(general) VISA on 01-Sep-2008. Due to some reasons I could not leave to UK. I am planning in Feb 2009. I need some clarifications.
1.Do I need to maintain the funds till I leave to UK ?
2.Is it correct that after getting VISA one should go to UK with in first
6 months.Or any time within validity I can go.
Please give me this information.
