MAINTENANCE FUND TIER1

Post by adeogun » Sun Jan 04, 2009 12:32 am

I want to make an enquiry as regards the maintainance fund. I am currnetly on HSMP in UK and want to extend my visa on the tier1

I am married with a wife and no kids. Please how much do i need to have in my account for the maintainance fund.

My wife's dependant visa is valid till 2011 so she will not be included on application. she will be applying in 2011

Is it 800pounds? Do i have to have another funds for my dependant (wife)

I have email the BIA for enquiry and i recieved two response, 1 said i need 800pounds while the other said i need an additional 533pounds even if she will be applying separately.

Thanks for your timely response.

If your wife is your dependent then how come her VISA is not coming up for extension at the same time as yours?

Although I do not have a definitive understanding of the issue, in my opinion, the dependent can not continue in the original (in this case HSMP) VISA category if the main applicant changes his VISA category. So Ideally she too apply for an extension under Tier-1 dependent route when you do so or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will have to show maintenance funds of GBP 800 + GBP 533 if you have been in UK for more than 12 months otherwise GBP 800 +GBP 1600
