And as commented by sanjay on that website...
... and next it will be University closures due to lack of Overseas Students! Just take a look at the income generated from overseas students and the percentage of overseas students in British Universities...

- Sanjay, Hounslow, UK
Its not only the Universities, just remember and look around, what FEE did you pay to get approved/rejected for your HSMP before and Tier1 now when you are applying outside UK around 50K from India.. and if they restrict and tighten the rules.. less people will come ot UK or apply for visas and less revenue to HO and more closures of Govt organizations like HO??

wat i mean to say is the word HSMP as it spells brings in people from outside UK who draw huge salaries, pay huge taxes and dont use PUBLIC funds.. if they are scared away than this country may end up feeding through those PUBLIC funds progams..

Guy's... this is my opinion.. pls do ur own due diligence

It isn't so much the public funds issue.

As this country remains in recession, there is going to be continued push towards protectionism of jobs for UK citizens. Given that the government cannot act on EU migrants while remaining members of the EU, they can only resiruct non-EU migration.

In the past, the drive has been to restrict those non-EU migrants that came over to do less skilled jobs, and later the work-permit system ensured that those in skilled jobs would have to meet stringent criteria to get the job.

The HSMP/Tier 1 circumvents that, and the government is looking to target the idea that people can come over to this country without employment and then compete on an equal footing with British citizens/residents. They are looking to weight the balance in favour of local highly skilled people rather than those from overseas. It remains to be seen whether the discussions focus on those looking to come here, and/or those already here.

In either situation, it's likely to bleak times ahead for all... :(
