Urgent advice... passport lost in UKBA ???

Post by wp_to_tier1_168 » Wed Apr 01, 2009 12:21 pm

Hello members,

It's been 12 weeks since my submission :( . I have called UKBA a number of times and nobody told me any more detailed information about my application except simplest statuses.

However, just today I received a letter from UKBA and unfortunately my wife's passport was lost in their department  Obviously, they are looking into my case now. They could have searched the passport for a long time, but just told me the truth for this delay. They asked us to have it replaced as soon as possible. But normally it would take 5 weeks to get it sorted in my local embassy.

I am thinking to send the photocopy of the lost passport and to request UKBA to approve our application, as they have all supporting documents and I have been awaiting for quite lengthy time. They could first stamp my own passport and then will do my wife's once we have it replaced.

Please tell me your thought. Highly appreciate it !!!

My best advise is to get this letter to your local embassy and ask for urgent passport replacement (this may cost you bit more), this is what you have to do any way.

Secondly I think HO say they are looking into your case so I assume they will stamp your passport (provided all documents are correct) but regarding your wife visa there might be two ways (not sure) either they will hold your case until you send them your wife passport or unfortunately you have to send your wife application again with new fee etc...(but this can be argued and you can ask for compansation for fee etc...not sure )

Good luck..

Kaff, many thanks for your response.

Actually, I have requested them to first proceed my application and then do my wife's as soon as we have her passport replaced. For sure they will pay the fee. But I really want my case to be sped up. :o Wow, it's been a long time, this isn't really express.
