Should i go for Review or Apply fresh ?

Post by max909 » Sun May 01, 2005 6:20 pm

Hi All,

I had applied from Pakista in Jun 2004. After a long wait of almost 10 Months, i finally got the word that the documents that i had sent with the application do not prove the experience that i had claimed for.

As a MS from Pakistan, they also didnt considered it as their Equivalent to MS, where as some batchmates of mine got enrolled in PhD in UK and USA. And also our insititue is part of some union of Common Wealth Educational Instituts (i am forgetting the name, if some one please reply with the name please). I have a 4 Year's Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and then Masters of Science.

I want a suggestion from all of you :-

- Should i file a new Application ?
- Should i go for a review ?

As far as i know, in both of the cases the application is going to take some good time (like 1-2.5 or more Months).

Any suggestions or something helpfull ?

Hi Max909,

I’m sorry to hear about your denial after waiting so long.

You are right, in both cases it will take about 1 - 2.5 months. However, whether to send a new application or request a review depends on if you need to send in additional documentation.

In short, for a review no additional evidence is allowed.

If you feel that the information that you originally submitted is enough to prove that your MS is equivalent in some way to a UK degree, then I would just request a review and state in a strong letter why you feel that they have made an error. If you need to send additional evidence regarding your educational background, then you will need to do a whole new application and pay the new 315GBP fee.

Best Wishes.

I Completed my MS From SZABIST (www.szabist.edu.pk).

They considered my BS (4 Year Prog) + MS == UK Bachelors :(

hi dear,

I even had the same case as yours and was in a great ambiguity of whether to apply fresh or send a review request. Ultimately i decided to reapply, as the caseworker told me that it will take less than a month, and if it gets more than 4 weeks to process my application, i can request ofr the "urgent treatment".

In your case, not only degree, but even work experience is alos a problem, so u must think of it and see if u can provide any additional documents to claim those points for your work experience, if u don't have to send anything in addition to what u have reviously submitted, no need to spend GBP 315, just request for review.

Hope this will help you,
