Switching from Student visa to Tier 1 Dependent

Hi,
Me and my fiance leaving in UK from last 5 years. He is currently on student visa which is going to expired on 31/07/2009. we go our marriage date on 29/07/2009.

I am on Tier 1 General and we want to extend his visa as my dependent from UK. Does he need to travel to India to apply for extension or can we apply for his extension(Switching from Student visa to Tier 1 Dependent
) form UK?

Unfortunately its not switching.. so your partner will have to file a new dependent visa application from his home country.
