physical presence requirements for ILR

I just got my Tier 1 (general) visa and am getting ready to move to the UK. My (soon-to-be) job (UK firm) will require extensive travel outside the UK. I would still be paid in pounds sterling, to my UK bank account, and would maintain a residence in the UK.

I am still confused about the residency requirements for ILR.

- Is it OK that I will have been out of the country so much of the time (all travel will be pursuant to normal job duties)?

- Can someone point me to the relevant law (or concise summary) on maintaining physical presence?
