UK Tier 1 Job

Post by krishna1215 » Fri Oct 30, 2009 11:22 pm

Hi,
I got my UK Tier 1 visa starting from Jan 2010 to 2013 (3 years).

Can we work in IT Contract jobs. I heard there is a rule coming up from Jan 2010 where the employer has to wait to for couple of months to employ a Tier 1 guy.

Is that going to restrict chances of securing a job from Jan 2010.

can tier visa be renewed after 3 years. What is the eligibility for renewal. Should I be working continously for 3 yrs without any gaps.

Not clear about these. Can you please throw some light on these matters as I am still not completely aware of the rules on this visa after landing in UK.

Is that going to restrict chances of securing a job from Jan 2010. Didn't heard about the rule. If you can provide link so we can look at it.

You need to make sure you are eligible for the all the creteria(as you did for tier1) at the time of extension. Three years continous job is not a creteria at the moment. At present, if you can provide earnings in last 12 months that's all you need.

Hi Chetan,

if you can provide earnings in last 12 months that's all you need.

Is there any salary Range for the 12 months earnings. Would they accept any range or is it specific that it has to be greater than XXX amount per annum.

After 3 yrs of Tier1 and if considered eligible for extension, would we be granted Permanent residency?

After 3 yrs of Tier1 and if considered eligible for extension, would we be granted Permanent residency? As per the current rule, it is 5 years. But it depends on when you are eligibile for your ILR.

3 years are long period and it is too early to think all this in this fast chaging immigration and economic environment

Hi Chetan,
Looks like this new rule is for Tier-2 but not for Tier 1 from Jan 2010

http://www.1stcontactvisas.com/visa-new ... onals.aspx

Correct me if i am wrong. Moreover Is Health checkup required as soon as I get to UK in Jan 2010?

I wouldn't count on the expected dates of HO. These changes can be preponed or postened.

You may be asked for TB certificated etc when you land at airport. But once you are in the UK, you are not required health check unless you need it.

Hi Krishna

How did you get the visa starting in Jan 2010. Did you request for it separately in the form or did you mention that your intended date of travel is in january 2010
