Visa remains valid on expired passport?

Hi All,

Very simple question, Just want to know if i've a 3 years visa on my passport which is expiring in a year time and at the end of the year i'll get a new passport. I believe old passport with valid visa will still work? it'll just stick with the new passport or i'll have to get visa on new passport?

p.s. it's a pakistani passport

Two options:
1. Use your old passport, along with the new one
2. Transfer the visa to the new passport, which incurs a lot of money though.
