Anybody with a PhD applying for HSMP

Hi,

I am about to apply. I am claiming points as follows

Ph.D 30 points
Job Experience 25 points
Earnings 25 points

Though I can claim 35 points for Experience, 10 points for wife, and 15 points for significant acheivement, thanks to the board I do not want to go for extra paperwork.

I do not see any problem for my Ph.D. degree. (Strathclyde uni Glasgow)
Earnings are shown through Tax return and salary slips.
The question is about Job experience. I am thinking of only submitting present empolyer's certificate which is for three plus years. I am Associate Professor and my certificate mentions teaching at undergraduate and post graduate levels. and mimimum requirement for post is Ph.D. Since I can claim 25 points for three years graduate level experience, do I need to give past experience certificates or only present employer will suffice?

Need answer ASAP.

It would be better to show as much work exp as you can. There should not be any discontinuity between your education and work. This is not must but it will help your better image to case worker.

When I applied, I did not include work that was part of PhD training (such as teaching and research duties) just to simplify matters. But I did include work during the time I wasn't a student (between the bachelor's degree and starting the PhD program), just to show continuity. I suggest you do this, just to take account of the months or years before you went to Glasgow.

Also, I think you should claim your present post as a specialised position - you only need one letter with details of the qualifications required (a PhD) and why, and a heirarchy chart within your department. It may be a longer letter than the employee certificate you have with you. But it would be strange not to claim an Assistant Professor position as specialised (I was able to claim a postdoc position as specialised).
