Tier 1 holder is on contract - dependent visa question

Post by questioner_at_sea » Sun Mar 21, 2010 6:25 pm

Hi everyone:

I've recently moved to UK on Tier 1/General.

My wife is planning to apply for Tier 1 dependent visa for herself and kid ( 1 year old) in April.

My questions are:

1) does she need to fill in two VAF 10 forms - considering the kid is only 1 year old?

2) I am staying in rented accommodation and I can give the rental agreement - I still don't have the council tax receipt - is the rental agreement good enough to serve as proof of accommodation?

3) I'm presently working on a 6 month contract with one of the investment banks at a daily rate of 350 (probably, this information is not required but it is better to give all the facts to get accurate answers). As I am on a contract, I do not get pay-slips. Can they just submit the photocopy of the contract as a proof that the I am gainfully employed ?

I am aware that points 2 and 3 are not strictly required. In theory, I can be jobless or homeless in UK ( or don't have to be in UK ) for the dependent visa application - but having proof of income or accommodation definitely strengthens the application. right?

I'm sure many others have walked by on the same road prior to me. Would love to hear their experiences, and advice.

Many thanks.

Yes. An application for each dependant!

2) I am staying in rented accommodation and I can give the rental agreement - I still don't have the council tax receipt - is the rental agreement good enough to serve as proof of accommodation?

Point 2 is OK, Point 3 is not required and don't complicate your case!

I'm sure many others have walked by on the same road prior to me. Would love to hear their experiences, and advice.

Many thanks.

Thanks, vks. Regarding point 3, earnings, I believe, I will have to bring them in the picture anyway - because, part 7 of the VAF 10, asks questions regarding main applicant's financial activity in UK.

I think, I will just honestly mention that I am on contract in UK - there is nothing illegal or shady about it. There are many people who do contracting life-time as its a good money.

Also, what is the usual processing time for the dependent visa application made from India? I understand this varies from case to case - but a ballpark will help.

Many Thanks.
