Tier2 runs out, Tier1 still processed: new Tier2 waiting...

Am awaiting an outcome of Tier 1 application posted 3rd April in the UK. My current Tier 2 runs out in 2 weeks and, although I have a Sponsorship Nr for Tier 2 extension for another 6 months, I'd rather prefer Tier 1. Not sure now whether I should wait for a final outcome of Tier 1 or post a new application for Tier 2 extension if it gets closer to the end of my visa... Any advice much appreciated.

better to wait as a withdrawal will take 10 days. it depends on how confident you are about your application.
i am not sure if you are eligible to work for the same employer after your leave to remain expires. maybe someone senior can answer

Thank you for your comment. Not so confident but still am prepared to risk. Do you know what happens if I do not withdraw Tier 1 and just send another application for Tier 2 stating that still waiting for an outcome? Has anyone had any similar experience? Thanks in advance
