EC granted

Post by gulgon » Thu Oct 27, 2005 9:37 am

Hello guys,

My EC has been granted in 3 days in Dublin. Applied on friday and received sent on tuesday. I submitted :

- HSMP approval
- bank statement (6500 Euro)
- a few job ads

EC starts on 24 january 06 (post-dated for 3 months). So, I have to enter UK before 24 April 06, I guess. I was mainly wondering two things :

- When I flied to Nothingam from Dublin before, there was no passport check; if I have such a case, should I try to report to an officer to have entry stamp?
- I plan to enter towards the end of 3. month; in this case, if I leave UK for 2-3 weeks that year for holiday, do u think it is fine?
- Is there anyone whose 3-year renewal rejected? I mean is it easy to renew it as far as you find a job (lets say with 20-24.000 a year), generally speaking?

Many thanks

Congratulations on the EC.

That can't do any harm. And if you cannot locate anyone to stamp the EC, certainly retain your Boarding Pass to prove that you have indeed arrived in the UK on that date.

Are you trying to say there was no immigration control at Nottingham - thats bizarre

Did you use the correct Queue after disembarking (i.e Q for non EU or Swiss passport holders?)

Definately, you need to complete a landing card and get stamp in your Visa or inform the HO as soon as you enter the country..

A boarding pass is not an authoritative document - given that you might get a boarding pass and fail to fly :o

Yea indeed there was no check. But when I asked a Malaysian guy coming with me, he said he flied many times and sometimes officers dont bother to check people coming from dublin... probably, i arrived at their lunch time! ;-)

How about my other questions by the way?

BTW, Past tense for Fly is Flew  not Flied...

your other questions - dont worry. You can arrive any time but dont leave it too long!!

I can only recall 1 refusal of extension in the last 3 years! - mainly becoz the gut spent all his time working in Switzerland
