Dependant Permanent residency

Post by jhansi » Thu May 20, 2010 10:49 pm

my husband is on tier 1 general visa and will be eligible for permanent residency in 2012. we both have been living together in uk for the past four years. i am on dependant visa and planning to go to india for six months.
can anyone tell me there will be any problem when we apply for permanent visa if i stay in india for six months.

thanks

In 2012, your husband will be able to qualify (and apply) for probationary citizenship under the earned citizenship laws scheduled to be implemented from July 2011. Limit on absences for either main migrants or their dependents under the new laws is not known yet.

Under current laws, dependent's absences have no influence on ILR but may have an impact on when you qualify for naturalisation.
