maintainance money confusion

Post by hemantstewari » Mon Jun 07, 2010 6:16 pm

Hello evryone,

I'm in UK since last 7 months under Tier1 visa based on a HSMP LETTER.
Now I plan to file dependent visa for my wife and my 7 month old son. Scenario is such:-
1) 1600GBP for son has been kept in my saving account back in my home country.
2) 4000GBP is been kept as a fixed deposit in my wife's bank in my home country.
3) Add on there is a provision of 2000GBP as recurring deposit in post office which is on my wife's name as well.

Should I procede considering the above. Or is it mandatory to have maintenance money in savings account. any other valuable input /advice is highly appreciated.

Please help.

Regards,
Hemant.

Ok,,, no replies. no worries,, But did manage to find an answer, for benifit of others posting the info gathered as below:-
1) yes, we can use FD but there should be letter from the bank stating that " The Fixed Deposit cash funds are clearly and unconditionally available for immediate withdrawals or can be liquidated at any given point in time".

But I have one more question if seniors can be helpful in guiding me through:- the confusion is still on maintenance
Do I have to show maintenance money for myself as well? I'm already a tier1 visa holder dated Jan 09. But had been in uk only since last 7 months.

Please help. Planning to file on 17/06.

Regards,
Hemant.

Yes you have to show maintenance for urself as well

42. For example, the Tier 1 Migrant has been in the UK for 6 months and is making an application at the same time as his/her spouse and two children. He/she must show that he/she has £1600 for his spouse and a further £1600 for each child, in addition to £800 required for his/her own support. In total the family will require evidence that they hold £5600 in available funds (£1600 x 3 = £4800 + £800).
43. If the same Tier 1 Migrant and his family had been present in the UK for two years, they would require evidence that they held £2399 (£533 x 3 = £1599 + £800) in available funds.
44. If a family member applies separately from the Tier 1 Migrant, there must still be enough funds to support each member of the family. Therefore in the example above, if the family has a third child, the main applicant has been in the United Kingdom for two years and the family applies for leave to remain for the third child separately, they must provide evidence that they have an additional £533 in available funds.
