HSMP for Husband and Wife

Post by sing672 » Mon Nov 14, 2005 4:45 pm

Hi,

My husband qualifies for HSMP based on requried points but he do not want to move to UK now, he wants to move approx 2 years down the road.

I am working (IT) and I want to go to UK ASAP but I dont have enough points to qualify for HSMP.

Please advise,

1. Is it possible for my husband to apply for HSMP once he gets it, I will apply for dependent HSMP?
2. I apply for my VISA based on dependent HSMP and move to UK where as my husband joins me approx 2 yrs later.
3. What is the validity duration of HSMP?

Thanks in advance.

Regards
MG

1. Yes, it's possible.
2. No, dependant cannot go into UK without the HSMP holder.
3. HSMP visa is valid initially for 1 year.

Because of no. 2, you should wait the 2 years until your husband is willing to go to the UK.

HSMP for Husband and Wife

Post by sing672 » Tue Nov 15, 2005 3:40 pm

Greetings,

Thanks for your reply. Three more quick questions

1) Can both of us travel together to UK and my husband comes back (say after 1 month) and I continue to stay and look for job.
2) How many times a person can enter UK during the HSMP validity period of one year?
3) HSMP is valid for one year, does it mean that
a) We have to find the job within 1 yr otherwise, we have to leave UK
b) if I find a job within 1 yr, then can I stay as long as I have job/want to stay without any further renewals to HSMP?
c) if we dont use it during the one year of validity, then can it be renewed?

Looking forward for your reply.

Regards
MG

You could do that, but at the end of the year when you need to extend your visa, your husband will have to be back in the UK. It will be clear to the HO that he made no attempt to settle himself in the UK and will find it tough to get an extension.
2) How many times a person can enter UK during the HSMP validity period of one year?
Multiple Entry
3) HSMP is valid for one year, does it mean that
a) We have to find the job within 1 yr otherwise, we have to leave UK
It means you have to prove that you are economically active and not a burden on the state. There are people who have managed extensions without proper jobs in their chosen proffesions.
b) if I find a job within 1 yr, then can I stay as long as I have job/want to stay without any further renewals to HSMP?
HSMP applicant and his dependents are given a 3 year extension. At the end of the 3 year period he/she can apply for indefinate leave to remain in the country.
c) if we dont use it during the one year of validity, then can it be renewed?
No
