Passport request while visa under processing ?

Hi all,

I applied for Tier-1 visa (General) on the 7th June in Algiers.
Till today my visa application status is "Arrived at the visa Section" .
As per of the nature of my work I need to travel abroad from time to time, however my national passport is with the british mission and I am unble to travel now.

Can I request my passport back while my visa application is still under consideration?

You can, but that would mean that you are withdrawing your application...

Does this mean that we must stay in the country of application whatever time it takes ? If its true, than I am just a prisoner of my own visa application

Its already more than one month and who knows how much time it's going to take...

I think the HO should consider the fact that people need to travel to other countries also.
