Is IELTS required for T1 General dependent?

Post by sunjay » Sun Oct 17, 2010 2:17 pm

Hi all,

I tried to search the forum for answer to this but I couldn't find anything specific, I do apologise if there was any.

My wife will apply as my dependent from outside the UK and I'm in T1 General. Does my wife need to sit for IELTS? If so, then what's the minimum score she will need?

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... t-partners

I found above link which states it is only required for partners of a British citizen and who are settledin this country. What does the word "Settled" mean in this context? I believe, any work permit holders are settled in this country. Or are they not?

Please clarify.

Thanks.

Tier-1 G main applicant is not considered to be settled in UK albeit the VISA category can lead to settlement (ILR). See What does 'present and settled' mean
