Can Earnings mentioned in pay slip be proportionated?

Can Earnings mentioned in pay slip be proportionated?

I want to claim points for earnings from 1 Sep 2009 to 31 Aug 2010. However, the first payslip which I have covers the period from 27 Aug 2009 to Sep 2009. What should I do in this case? Can I proportionate the earnings in my first pay slip and claim only for Sep 2009? How can I indicate this in my application? Thanks
