HOW 90 DAYS IS CALCULATED

Hi,

I got HSMP visa by 1stOct10, I have visited UK on 23Oct and stayed till 31Oct10. I came back to India and now I am planning to visit UK again.
It is understood that I should re-enter UK within 90 days to avoid problems during the extension.
I am confused on how this 90 days is calculated.
Is 90 days calcualted from the day I entered UK on last visit(23Oct10) or on the day I left UK 31Oct10?

Please suggest me as I need to take other steps based on the reply.

They don't want you out of the country for more than 90 days. So, it's from the day you left the UK.
