Success: Tier1 Extension + spouse + Biometric: Postal appln

thought might be helpful to post my experience and documents here

Scenario
1. Biometrics required as I've applied on Jan05 2011
2. Send applications (tier1 + dependent) via post.Both of us already in the UK
3. attended Biometric interview PEO croydon

I've showed 9 months salary only to get the required points, so as to avoid issues in future during settlement.. Also my wife had to get job, hence thought of having 2 years valid permit for better job hunting

Docs for Tier1 extension I attached..
1. uk ba calculator
2. cover letter
3. passport
4. Prev earnings - Orig payslips (9 months)
5. Bank Statements - Original individual (monthly)
6. Maintenance - (same bank statements as above)
7. PBS Document
8. Photos ( 2 each)

For dependant
1. PBS D document
2. Marriage certificate
3. Council tax
4. Passport
5. Photos ( 2 each)

Biometric
1. You will receive individual copies of appointment letter for you and dependent
2. You will have same Booking number. So don't worry.
3. Ensure that when u book your appointment, include your dependent also. You can't link dependent to your appointment at end, so have to do while starting itself.

Final docs in hand
1. My passport and dependent came along with letter of approval
2. Biometric cards came in 1 day later
3. There is no Visa stamped in passport anymore

Thanks to all of you.. Now into the settlment options.. Only god knows what all options will change for ILR next year !!

Eventhough my Date of expiry of current leave (visa): Aug 05, 2011 ,
the extension took from Feb15 only.

I see that you provided your biometric at PEO Croydon office - is that because you could not provide biometric using the post office service or just cause Croydon was more convenient for you? Just asking as I have also applied for T1 extension on Feb 15 with my wife and daughter and am waiting for the biometric letter.

any specific reason why you applied early, do you get 5 ILR or need another extension?

nearest post-office was same distance as PEO.
Also not sure how Post office store biometric data..

When you filled the extension form, it asks you to provide the biometric details. I assume since your previous tier1 visa was issued when this biometric work permit did not exist, you left that section blank?

Can you please confirm this, as I am in a similar situation like you because my visa is expiring in Aug and i am sending my application now.

I cant remember about the specific section which u said above.
But there is a section to say, you need to provide biometrics.

hmm.. not sure. I can see the options are given to PEO and other biometric centres in my letter and NOT post office.
Definitely they will send you individual copies of biometric letter to you and dependent. This letter will contain the options you have. So i would say decide on that.

Booked through web.
I did few tweaks and tryouts.

The best way i can think of is
1. Don't select AM/PM
2. Don't select any dates
3. Only select by Weekdays
eg.
Monday ->then Display all
Tuesday ->then Display all
etc..

you will find all appointments based on Days more quickly rather than Dates.

Thank you for your information. I also got one more question. Could you please clarify this. On this issue, This application has been received by UKBA on jan 7 2011, but the case differs on points on jan 15 2011, like he looses his points in age because his date of birth falls on jan14. But the decision was made on 15th feb 2011. So before jan 15 he got 75 points and after jan 15 he will get 65 points. So on 15th feb 2011, UKBA consider which points. Could you please help to clarify this.

Booked through web.

I'm planning to send my tier1 general application form along with dependants sometime this week and i have a question about change of address.

Is it ok if my bank statements and salary slips show my previous address and council tax bill etc show the new address as I moved in to a new place just a month ago and havent yet updated my address in the bank?

For dependants application, should i send the rent agreement/council tax letter or any bills as proof of accomodation? that has a new address in my case.

congratulation...to everyone who got visa. good to hear tht u got. how did u get so quick. i got acknowledgement letter on 17/10/2010 but since than havnt got ny response. did anything wrong go with my application. i had half salary as self-employed and half through working. my visa expires on june 2011. am always positive . but incase if i am refused, what are the things that i need to do from now so that it wont affect my application later. your advice is much appreciated.

Do we need to book 2 appointments for main and dependent?

I have booked an appointment next month with my daughter but cannot book for my spouse. From UKBA website, my understanding is that I have to book a separate appointment for my wife.Is that true or there is some trick involved in that as well. I would appreciate your response. Here is UKBA link where it says that any one over 18 cannot be part of family group.

There is an option add family member before booking.You can add unto 10 members for single appointment.

But UKBA website says that you cannot add any one into your family group who is more than 18 years old. The information below is copy pasted from same UKBA link as given above.

"What is a family group?
A family group is made up of the main applicant and all dependants who are applying at the same time. If you are applying and have dependants included on your application, you must make appointments for them at the same time as you make your own appointment.

If the application you are submitting is a biometric application you must attend the appointment as a family group.

The following people cannot be considered as part of your family group:
Persons over the age of 18
Other relatives making a separate application in another category "

On first line, it says that family group is main applicant and all dependants but then it restricts that no one should be over 18.

As I explained earlier, I have already booked appointment online for me and my daughter. How should I add spouse to same appointment or should I book another appointment for her??? And If I try to book another appointment, should it be after my appointment or should I wait for my passport and biometric first and then apply again.
