Biometirc Residence Permit (BRP)

Post by HKDK » Sat Jun 11, 2011 9:04 pm

Hi All,

I am already on Tier 1 since 2009 September and now I need to apply for dependent visa for my 6 months old child.

Do I need to apply for Biometric Residence Permit as well. or it's not applicable for me?

Many Thanks in advance

No biometric enrolment for now till you are due for an extension.

Thanks for the response,

As stated on the the UKBA site:

'You do need to apply for a biometric residence permit if you are currently in the UK and you want to extend your temporary permission to stay here in one of the following immigration categories:
any category in Tier 1 of the points-based system'

This implies that if you are applying for the extension only then you need to worry about Biometric Residence Permit but the thing that is confusing me is that the form itself says 'Extension of stay as a dependant.....'

That is the correct form to use. Just fill it out correctly and maybe attach a cover letter explaining that the child is a new born, hence it's an initial application etc.
