Some people who get straight approval, less then 1 weeek are people who normally have already got job offer in the UK (HSMP level job), have been working in the well known multi nationals companies in the UK or somewhere else in the developed countries. They do not need to prove anything their current situation, position, job, employer have already proved it that if they immigrate in the UK they will not have problem finding the job. They are high flyer and we could call them just switching the countries, or switching from WP to HSMP .
Some people also get straight rejection within 1 week in case their case is badly prapared. If you fall into this category then you must question why does it take so long.
Other wise it is normal that it takes 5 to 14 weeks. If you browse the previous post, you will find that quite reasonable number of people that even wait for around 6 months before their case is decided.
Some application take longer because very probably, their applications and attached documents have been picked for verification. I think this is still better rather then straight rejection.
