If you look at the application form it self, it is quiet clear. your application was before April 2010. Your age at the time of initial application was 27. So the points you will get is 20 points. It is quiet clear. Don't confuse your self. Don't look at the Points based calculator in UKBA website sometimes it is confusing. If you look at Point G Age Assessment in the application form as given below, it is very straightforward. I've just got my extension approved yesterday. So I am 100% confident on what I am saying.

Applications for leave to remain where the applicant has, or has had, leave as a Highly Skilled Migrant, as a Writer, Composer or Artist, Self-employed Lawyer, or as a Tier 1 (General) Migrant under the Rules in place before 6 April 2010, and has not been granted leave in any categories other than these since 6 April 2010
