The person who dealt with your enquiry is wrong and this, unfortunately, is a common problem with VACs (and being told this by me may not make you feel any more comfortable). There is no need to provide multiples of original paperwork when separate applications are bundled and cite common paperwork. Send in one set of original documents and then copies (just regular photocopies) of everything for each application. Furthermore, asking the PBS migrant for evidence of their maintenance is only necessary when the PBS migrant (aka the main applicant) is applying at the same time as dependants. You have your leave and are not making an application so don't need to cover your maintenance for these applications by your dependants which, clearly, are being made separately from you.
