Tier 1 Extension Application Returned

Post by sajan.chandran » Fri May 18, 2012 9:35 am

Hi,

I have applied for my Tier 1 Extension Application on 14-Apr-2012, today I got my application back with a letter stating that the forms have changed since April 6. But when I was applying the UKBA site mentioned that they will continue to accept the old application till 27-Apr-2012.
Please help what can i do?

Thanks,
Sajan Chandran

Did you pay the new fee?

Has your leave now expired?

Did you pay the new fees, applicable from April 2012? If not, then you may have to make a new application (out-of-time application if your leave has expired).

But if you did, then:
Does the letter contain the contact details (email / phone / correspondence address of the CW or UKBA office)? If so, contact them referring them to paragraph 34I of the immigration rules and ask for reconsideration.

If the (specific) contact details aren't mentioned, call the UKBA helpline (Immigration advice bureau), explain the situation (keep the application reference number handy) and request to be connected to the department / team / CW concerned.

When UKBA states that the old form is accepted until 21 days from 6-April-2012, how is applicant expected to pay new fee when there is no option for new fee in the old form? For. E.g for paying via Credit/Debit card he only have some options to circle on the form, in case of old form £1000 for tier-1 extension. Should the applicant cut £1000 and write £1500 for authorization in order for the application to be valid?

You have to pay the new fee which were advertised weeks in advance otherwise the application is not valid.

How? (If using old form, there is no option to circle £1500)

Pay by another method or use the new form. Either way the old form can be used but the new fee must be paid.

Using an old form (for the 21 days allowed by law) doesn't mean there is a concession for not paying the associated fees applicable on the day of the application.

Do-able. Also useful to do in such cases - point it out in the covering letter.

If you do know that the fees has increased, then the simplest thing to do would be to use the new form. Why would you want to add complexity to your application esp given the state UKBA is in nowadays?!

Thanks for the replies.
My visa got expired on 24-Apr, and I have applied on 14-Apr.
The fee was not deducted.
What can be my next step?

Thanks,

Can you clarify if you provided the new fee/authorization for the new fee or not?

There is no place on the old form to indicate the new fee amount.
There is only place for the old fee amount.

The new fees were still applicable as explained. You will need to make a new application as advised by Sushdmehta.
