Moving from Post Study to Tier 1 General

Post by fsix » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:22 pm

I am currently on a post study work visa and I have not found a sponsor for a work visa even though I have a job that currently pays reasonably well, as a result I am considering applying for a Tier 1 General Visa.

A few questions I need to ask as the policy guidiance doesnt seem clear on these points

1) Are my able to switch to Tier 1 General category from a post study work visa in-country?

2) At the moment I can prove earnings of slightly over £23,000(dual income source), does that mean I get 15points for earnings as per current rules?

3) My post study visa expires in August 2013, so would it be ok to file an application by september this year?

4) In tandem with my current job I also work as a free lance writter for a research company, do I need to show evidence of tax paid as I already pay tax on my full time job?

I would appreciate your responses.

Thanks
