Confusion about point calculator

Post by termic2 » Sat Jul 10, 2010 3:28 pm

Hi,

I am bit confused about using point calculator for Tier 1 (General). I have used different calculators and each gave me different results. No calculator except one in home office website offer any way to calculate earnings from multiple sources. I have used home office calculator and it give me enough points to qualify. Where as other calculators return no points.
I have put my 12 month income as PKR 3200000=approx GBP2500 (exchange rate of 126) and home office calculator gave me 75 points which qualify me to the scheme. On the other hand, calculator in this site and others only gave none to 10 points. I spoke to an immigration lawyer and he said I would need around PKR, 900000=GBP8000-85000
I am not sure what is going wrong.

Any help will be appreciated.

Depends on your age and qualification.

Hi,
Seems to be come calculation error at your side as GBP 2500=PKR 320000 not 3200000. Also, PKR 900000 cannot be equal to GBP 85000.
Please carefully put zeros while using PBS calculator as it will give result according to your input.

Thanks Tier1_123,

Yes you are right, its mistake in writing, GBP 2500=PKR Aprrox320000.
and also, PKR 900000 cannot be equal to GBP 85000.

But even when I put PKR320000,(Approx GBP2500) ,it awards me 75 points.

So there is still a huge difference between my & immigration expert as he is suggesting around PKR9,000,00=ApproxGBP8000.

What exchange rate you are using?

Thanks
Got it now Tier1_123

Calculator things are now seem to be sorted out.

Still there is one more concern,

How should I calculate my UK income? What exchange rate should be for UK earning? If I put "1" as exchange rate, I do not get any point for GBP2400. To me, UK income looks like wasted. My home country income giving me only 10 points and this doesn't qualify me for the scheme.

If I add both my UK income and Home country income(after converting to PKR) then it is possible to get enough points in earning to qualify.

Is it possible to add both the income? If yes then how.

Thanks

Please elaborate your circumstances. If you were in UK and have earned some money there, then you cannot convert it to PKR for claiming points.
I suggest you to go through the PBS guide, where all your questions will be automatically answered.

I was in the UK. now return to Pakistan.

I have Master Degree from UK university.
I am talking about UK earning from UK clients and I have earned this while working from Pakistan using my web based services.
This is based on annual contract.

Does this can be considered/added to my Pakistani Earning.

Regards

Here are my circumstances

I am going to apply from outside of the UK.
I have 35 points for masters Degree
I have 10 points for age (34 years)
I have 5 points for UK experience (UK degree and job)
So I only need 25 points in previous earnings to qualify for the scheme (if I apply before19 July). Is this right?

I have 10 points for English Language capability
I have 10 points for maintenance funds

My UK income(working From Pakistan)=3000GBP
My Pakistani Income =PKR350000

If you have earned this money while residing in Pakistan, then to my knowledge, yes you can claim it. However, you need to provide strong documentation to prove this.
Please take a meticulous overview of the PBS guide to get answers to most of your queries.
