applying dependant visa from India

I am going to India on a vacation and the during tat time planned to apply dependant visa from India.Is there any ruke that main applicant should be in the UK when dependant apply visa from India.Please let me know if any rule restrict to do so.

Please let me know how much maintenance fund needs to be shown for main applicant(main application will in India on vacation during dependant visa application).
