seeking visit visa - single entry

Post by ca.funke » Tue Nov 24, 2009 1:44 pm

Hi all,

this section does not cover recent developments concerning visit-visas (last Info I found from 2006), so I was wondering if anyone has any recent experience?

Scenario:

- I´m Belgian (no visa needed)
- my wife is Lebanese (the joys of that passport...)
- we live in Switzerland, Permanent Residence for my wife.
- I have a job, my wife is learning the local language at present.
- we would like to visit a friend (Lebanese, Permanent Resident in Canada) of my wife for her wedding (getting married to a Canadian Citizen). Thus single-entry.

Travel-history: roughly 20 countries, incl. Australia, Cyprus and a bunch of Schengen-places. Only visa ever refused: Visit visa to Germany in 2005, no real clue why.

I don´t really see a reason for refusal, just wondering if there´s anything specific to look out for, apart from the following:

- visa application
- invitation from Canadian folks as above
- bank-statement
- health-insurance
- proof-of-job from myself
- proof of attending language-school for my wife
- marriage certificate
- our passports

Christian your Lebanese wife will be fine. The Canadian authorities are very efficient, which is more than i can say for other countries i have resided in the last year.

Follow, this instruction/guidance, and she will be fine.

I am nearly 100% sure it will not be refused.

I went there last Autumn courtsey of my EU sister's job, and it was lovely. I secured my visa on the same day, which is the quickest time i have achieved a visa from any embassy.

If you have all the document, it will be obtained

Hi Forum,
Hi Obie,

this Canadian visitor-application is really the most straightforward and easy I´ve ever seen.
  • Paperwork demanded is reasonable and straightforward
  • Application dealt with swiftly
  • Entry & exit dates provided for by the visa are convenient (6 months period allowing entry, 6 months stay from then onwards)
Considering "our" European Schengen-"System" I´m ashamed now:

It´s easier for me and my wife to visit Canada from Europe (being total strangers to Canada), than it was to visit Belgium or Germany (my home-countries) while resident in Ireland.

Already looking forward to going :):):)

Rgds, Christian
