B 1/ B2 Expiring before travel

Hi friends,
Just wondered if some one can guideme. I live in UK for last 5 years and I got B1/2 till MAy 2007. I have no intention to travel by that date. My partner also got the visa for the same duration( 1 year).

Now i would like to apply again for visa probably for a travel late this year. Does anyone have any experiance what to answer to them when they ask why u have not travelled before ? or will it make it difficult to get a new visa. I am really working to get a ten year visa. Last time i showed i am visiting my brother.
