quiting my job w/o risking my green card process

Hello,

Due to personal reasons i would like to quit my job, which sponsored my green card, as soon as I can but without risking my green card process. I have recently received my form 140 approval and all i'm waiting on now is the '485' (AOS) approval. my question is, can i resign now before getting the '485' (AOS) without risking the process? Do i have to be employed with the current employer/sponsor to complete the green card process?

Can i resign as soon as i get the 485 approval without risking the process? I don't want to risk my green card process but i would like to quit my job as soon as possible.

I have a valid H-1B visa (until 3/2008) and EAD card.
