Egyptian married to white amercian...how long shall it take?

what is the case if some egyptian muslim with no criminal histroy at all , and no bad history in all the yrs he lived in the states, who was dating an amercian women for a yr then they got married for almost a yr " which means that they have been togther for almost 2 yrs now" and thats bec he married in good faith and already applied for the green card.....
how long should it take to get the green card and is there any possible way the he get a temporary travel document that allows him to re enter the states till his papers r complete

It can take anything from 6 months to several years... I think it is about 9-12 months on average now. You can get travel permit and work permit while waiting for your green card: they should take around 3 months after you apply.

but the attorny told him that it takes 4-6 month till they call for an interview .......i dont know if she is right or what ?

Yeah, sounds about right. But you can apply for work authorization and travel document without the interview.
