Transfer of J1 visa

Hi,

I am postdoctoral scholar in a University for the last 3 years and am on a J1 visa which is valid till the end of next year. I have a job offer from a biotech company that i really want to accept, but since the H-1B cap is long gone for this year, the only way I can accept the offer is if my J-1 can somehow be transferred to my new position.

Does anyone know if this is possible at all, and if so, what it would involve?
