B2-Travel Visa Help and where to start

Hi all,

I need help on how to apply for a B2-travel Visa to visit the States please.

I have gone online and totally confused where I start my application off. I dont know if I have to go to the US embassy and arrnage something, or use one of the Visa online sites. I really am at a loss.

Please help me. I want to visit Colorado for up to 6 months for the ski season and see friends there.

Andrew: you don't say what your nationality is, but if you are eligible to travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) for up to 90 days, then it's very unlikely that your B2 visa application will be approved. If it is denied, you may find yourself unable to use the VWP as well.

How can that be? I am British and just been to the USA using an ESTA. I want to go back and spend time skiing. I have enough money to support myself and have a home in Britain. Why would they deny me a visa or an ESTA if I reapplied for that? Its just nonsensical. I want to go for a long holiday. I am not seeking employment or claiming from the goverment.

Regardless of whether it makes sense or not, the Department of State takes the view that those who are eligible for the VWP should use it rather than apply for a B visa, unless they fall into a very narrow group of categories (e.g. people of retirement age, or cohabiting partners of non-immigrant visa holders).

The B-2 visitor visa is also referred to as the "tourist" visa. Foreign nationals who wish to enter the United States for recreation and pleasure or for medical treatment often use it. If your intention is to enter the United States for business purposes.
