Employment based green card timeline question

Hello all,
I was born in Africa and have an Indian passport. I have a "advanced degree" from a US institution (on an F1 visa). I was wondering if someone could throw light on the following questions:

1. I am currently on OPT. I will be applying for an H1B in 6 months time or so. Will I be considered to be part of the "Indian pool" while I wait for my Green Card?

2. If not, How much time roughly can it take me to get my Green Card?

(Both questions assuming my company is willing to sponsor me for a Green Card)
