Urgent - How to send Indian passport from UK to India

Hi All,

By mistake, I have brought passport and biometric card of my wife and my son to UK. They are in India and planning to travel from India to UK in 2 weeks time. We all have ILR for UK.
Can someone please guide me on what my options are to safely send the passport and biometric card for my wife and son to India from UK?

Secured, Express and Signed for delivery by a well know carrier e.g. DHL, FedEx etc...

I believe there may a (Indian) law against sending an Indian Passport by post.

There is a chance of courier being lost. I have a friend travelling to India, can I send the passports with him? I will attach a letter signed by me and my wife with all the details and authorisation, will that be enough?

Can anyone with similar experience help please?

your approach should be fine.

Check the passport. I believe it contains the below text of something similar:

Passport should not be sent out of any country by post. It should be in custody either of the holder or of a person authorised by the holder.
