Indian Passport renewal - Post

Hi,

I want to submit my passport for renewal , but all emails to HCI have not given any conclusion , nor can I find any topic which carries this information. My querries are :

1) Do you need to send the original Biometric Card? I am on Tier 1 (General) - Passport does not expire upto march next year
2) Fees is it 52 or 72? (I have the original passport with me , just need to know in what cases is an affidavit needed?)
