OCI passport details update in progress, travel on e-visa?

Hi all

We have applied for passport details update on my existing OCI and it is currently "being processed and will be updated soon". In the meantime we have an urgent need to travel to India in the next few days.

Could I apply for an e-visa and travel on it? Has anyone got any experience of doing this? What problems (if any) woudl I face when my OCI is updated whilst I am still in India? Would that render the e-visa invalid?

I guess you may have travelled already now.

Generally, your old OCI is cancelled on the system when new OCI is issued. Till that point, you can still use the old one to travel if need be.

There is no need to take additional eVisa expense, but no harm if done. It won't impact your other application.
