OCI - Birth Certificate translation requirement

Post by Fedus » Wed Jan 15, 2025 6:35 pm

Hi all,

I'm about to apply for OCI and one of the requirements is to translate the birth certificate into English or Hindi.
'For birth certificates that are not in English or Hindi, they must be translated by a reputed and registered translation authority'

My birth certificate is in Russian so I'm trying to understand what is an appropriate 'level' of translation for it: I've seen authorised and notarised translation options but I've also seen mentions of 'sworn translators'.

Do anyone have any recommendations on which type of translation to go with?

Thanks!
