Adding new wife's information in OCI card

Post by laybumoni » Wed Sep 09, 2009 3:46 pm

Hi there, I am a US citizen (Indian origin) and now I am going to apply for OCI status.

In my Indian passport (which is cancelled), I have name of my ex-wife (who was a US citizen) with whom I got divorced two years ago. But I never deleted her name as it never was an issue since I don't use that passport.

My current wife is a Bangladeshi citizen and I am processing for her permanent residency in US (green card). I also want her to have a spouse visa or long term multiple visa in India as my wife.

The Indian consulate here asks me two submit the first and last page of my old Indian passport where I still have my ex-wife's name. And I don't see any option to put my current wife's information in OCI form.

Please let me know if this would be a problem in processing spouse visa for her in India, or in her green card application process.

Should I inform the consulate about this change and submit divorce/marriage documents? I also fear that the fact that my wife being a Bangladeshi might create complications (considering recent political tension between India and Bangladesh).

Please let me know if I should disclose this to the consulate or going ahead with my ex-wife's name would be no big deal. :?
