Applying for Visa for Malta - Non - Eu Spouse

Hi

I am a british national and my wife is a Non-Eu National. We were based in Ireland and she had a resident permit ( valid for 5 years ) stamped on her passport. We recently moved to UK , and currently she has a Family permit valid for 6 months to end in November.

My question is around the EU regulation , Can she travel with me to MAlta on the assumption that she has a 5 year resident card from Ireland and also a family permit valid for Uk for 6 months or will i be required to apply for a visa for her for Malta?

I intend to apply for a resident card for her in Malta ofcourse
