Apply OCI for minor at same time surrender passport?

Dears I am looking some advise!

We both on ILR, our son (3 yrs old) got registered as BC and got his passport, is born in the UK and has Indian Passport.

I am planning to surrender his Indian passport, can I apply for his OCI same day at VFS? I read the documentation required, no where is written a UK born would need a surrender certificate to apply OCI. I can't rely of VFS website as its not clear.

Please anyone can put lights into it?

You need to obtain surrender certificate prior to applying for OCI. It is one of mandatory document.
hence surrender your passport first, obtain certificate then apply for OCI.
