doubts in PartB

Post by GBINR » Tue Nov 08, 2011 4:10 pm

Hello,

I have got my passport surrender certificate and I need some help in filling the OCI form where info is not explicit.

Part B asks for "Details of family members, who are staying in India, if any".

My sister is in India, and my parents live in Oman. But I have tons of relatives in India like uncle, aunt, bro-in-law, grandmother etc... Can someone say what did you all fill in?

So should I include my sister's details and all my relatives?

Time line so far is:
/ Application & PO for £172 and SAE sent on Monday, 10 October 2011
/ Date Of Acknowledgment 04-NOV-2011
/ Photo/Signature at Mission : Scanned On 08-NOV-2011
/ Registration Status at Mission : Granted On 08-NOV-2011
/ Documents Printing Status PRINTED > On 11-NOV-2011

? Dispatched From MOIA (OCI ): NOT DISPATCHED
? Documents Received at LONDON : NOT YET

Once the documents are received at London, I plan to collect by post by sending Special Delivery envelops.
I usually go to India for Christmas but have'nt had the courage book the tickets yet!

Does anyone know how long does the HCI usually take to send OCI Certificate by Post?
Thanks

The length of time HCI took to acknowledge also worried me.

"File Number will be issued by way of acknowledgement"
"Postal apps may take a week to acknowledge"

I did not hear anything for 10 days and was worried if my application and documents somehow got lost :(
I phoned them many times on both of their numbers.
020 7632 3072 and 020 7836 8484
After many attempts and long waits, when the phone was answered, the woman told me that it will take three weeks and she put the phone down".

It took 25 days for acknowledgement to appear at the status check website. Did not get acknowledgement by email, SMS or post though I had enclosed an s.a.e. with the application.

OCI based on Father's Indian Origin

Post by Panesar » Wed Nov 23, 2011 12:12 pm

I'm currently applying for an OCI based on my father's Indian orgin. He had an Indian Passport and now has his surrender certificate.

The guidelines state:
"Evidence of relationship as parent/grand parent, if their Indian origin is claimed as basis for grant of OCI."

Has anyone applied on this basis before? If so what documentation have you submitted? I have my birth certificate showing my father's name and my father's Surrender Certificate showing he held an Indian Passport.

What other evidence can be submitted? Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

My daughter is a British by birth. I had Indian PP and I hold Indian PP Surrender certifcate.

I submitted photopies of below documents. Well I have not got OCI yet, see the msg prior to your msg.

1) My daughter's brith certificate.
2) My daughter's Brit PP .
3) My Indian PP surrender certificate.
4) First and last pages of my cancelled Indian PP
5) My wife's passport copy (she is an Indian) and I am a Brit.
6) My Brit PP
7) Our marriage certificate.

Some people may suggest (4) to (7) are not must. But I simply added, as better to have more than less and after all everything is photocopy

Thank you GBINR.

My father himself does not have an OCI card as he has a long term visa that doesnt expire until 2013. So i thought i would apply for my OCI before he does. I hope that doesnt cause a problem.

Do you have an OCI card?

I'm wondering if it will be easier to wait until my father has the OCI or if i should apply anyway.

Thanks for your help.

Me too was worried like this.
It took them 25 days to show acknowledgment online. I had enclosed a stamped addressed envelope but no acknowledgment was received through post or by email.
Try phoning and emailing them. If you are lucky, you might get a reply.

Must be lucky day as I called up the number and someone picked up after first ring.

Very nice guy and he said that they are currently processing 20th October postal applications and it will take 10 more days for my applications to be acknowledged and further 10 days for OCI to be granted.

Fingers crossed I might get it before I travel in end of Dec.

he said if you dont get it by 15th Dec, then apply for Visa
