Dual workpermit (Ireland & UK)

Post by hsmp2006 » Wed Sep 27, 2006 4:22 pm

I am into a tricky situation & hoping to get some expert advice from this forum. Thanks to the forum, I recently got my HSMP approved.

I have an offer from a MNC based in Dublin, Ireland. They are processing work permits for both Ireland and UK. I am planning to work for an year or two in Ireland. My long term plan is to do MBA from UK and get UK citizenship through HSMP route.

In this context,

1. Does it help if I use my HSMP instead of employer's UK work permit?

2. After working on HSMP for an year, if I go for 1 year MBA in UK, will my HSMP Visa still be valid? In other words, can a student Visa and HSMP work permit be valid at the same time?

3. After completing 1-year MBA, if I take up a job through HSMP work-permit, can I use my MBA duration as a valid HSMP experience? (presuming HSMP was still valid while I was studying)

Thanks in Advance,
hsmp2006.

1. yes, but get the employer not to apply for the UK WP

2. No, the student visa will supercede the HSMP visa

3. see answer 2

Thanks for precise answers, olisun.

I will put a word to my employer. On similar lines, though I will be working in UK through HSMP for few months in the year, my pay roll is still in Dublin. Will this experience be considered as a valid HSMP experience? If I subsequently move to UK and work for an UK employer, can I count my earlier experience towards 5 years (for UK Permanent Residency).

Thanks,
hsmp2006.

Where will you be living? And will you be filing for UK Income Tax?

Hi JAJ

I will be based in Dublin. But I would be working in UK on work-permit/HSMP through my employer. Still need to find out if I will have to file taxes in UK. Will get this info. from employer.

Thanks,
hsmp2006.

Assuming you plan to obtain UK permanent residence and British citizenship ultimately, is it an option to live in Northern Ireland? (and commute to Dublin as required?)

You probably need the assistance of a UK immigration lawyer.
