resident certificate

Post by salavak » Fri Oct 27, 2006 9:03 pm

I am from Slovakia and have already completed uninterupted one year under WRS. Now I am about to submit an EEA1 form in order to receive a resident certificate. In my case I have an immigration history in UK as I came here in 1999 and claimed an asylum, but the situation has changed since Slovakia became an EU state. Can I, taking for account my immigration history still apply for resident certificate in person by booking an appointment in Croydon or I have to submit application by post?

I don't see why you think your previous immigration history affects whether or not you apply by post or in-person for the EEA1.

The EEA1 form is available for download here:

As far as I can see there are no conditions listed that affect whether or not you can make a postal application or an in-person application. So go ahead and do whichever one is more convenient for you!
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
