help please - ECO questions for place to live/ money needed

Post by star_G » Tue Feb 27, 2007 2:56 pm

Hi,

I'm a U.K. citizen and my wife is a U.S. citizen, both living in the US,we have been married for 11 years, we have 3 great kids. She is going to apply for a spouse visa very soon, I think we might have a problem.

My father and brother are writing us a couple of letters stating that they give us permission to stay and share their houses temporary until we find accommodation. They will try to fax me their tenancy agreements, My brother has a three bedroom house that he, his wife and two children live in, My father has a two bedroom house that he lives in by himself.

Problem is they can't get a letter from the city council to help with the matter. I have been looking for houses to rent over the internet and printed out at least ten houses that are for rent, I have been in contact with the rental companies.

Will the letters and the printouts be enough for the ECO?

There are five of us, me, my wife and a nine year old, a three year old and a two year old, will that be overcrowding? even though we will be sharing houses eg. my oldest sleeps at his uncle's house while me, my wife and two young ones sleep in my dads house until I find accommodation within the first couple of weeks.

Do I as a sponsor need to send my naturalisation document or will my passport be enough?.

We did not know that we needed bank statements until about a month ago january 12 to be exact, will two months bank statements be ok for the ECO?

we have about $7,000 thanks to tax refund will that be enough until we find employment. I could get bank statements from my old bank, we had a joint account but closed it back in August 2006 due to being overdrawn to often is that ok for the ECO ?

Also is it easier taking our application to them in person or sending it by mail?

We are both unemployed right now but we have been researching the web for jobs in the UK for both of us and have printouts of leads, and we have our CV's handy will that help us towards obtaining the visa?

Thank You in Advance

I'm confused, you just posted 2 other posts in another forum on this board as the Admin over here.

So who exactly are you?
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Why would the council provide this? Are they on housing benefit?

>> will that be overcrowding?
Unfortunately, I have every confidence it will be seen as overcrowding. And, I can't see them buying your proposal of splitting up the family living arrangements. Sorry.

On a different note, wouldn't it be more prudent for you to make an exploratory trip, live with your dad, find a job, find rented accomodation for the whole family, and then apply?

Yes they are on housing benefit.

They live on the same street about 100 yards away from each other.

and yes it would have been easier if I would have traveled first, but we already have the tickets
