Deadline?

Post by Sam123 » Sun Jun 17, 2007 8:28 pm

Hi all

I am completing 5 years on WP on 29th of July, so I understand I am able to apply for ILR on 29th June. But due to some circumstances I have to visit back home because my father is very ill and he has to go for some critical operation. I am thinking to apply, once I am back after my visit by the end of August. Because I have to pass pass this test life in the uk as well that will take some time. My visa expires on 09/08.

So my question is can I apply in Sept/Oct 2007 for ILR or not? Is there any deadline I must apply for ILR on certain date e.g the day I complete 5 years.

To Board: I really really appreciate your hard work, efforts and time in providing ppl an excellent suggestion.

Thanks

The 5 years, that is just a minimum. You are totally entitled to apply later. But as you will appreciate you need to apply before the expiry of your current visa.

The next step is for you to study for and then hopefully pass the Citizenship Test. Given your impending long journey, maybe buy the study guide and read it on the plane? :)

Until you pass the Citizenship Test you cannot apply for ILR.
