I just received notification via an email that the Home Office would pay back the £450 that it owed me as an application fee refund. The email also asks whether I am happy with the way the matter has been resolved.
In truth, I am not at all happy because it has taken the Home Office almost 8 months to pay this back, and I have had to send numerous emails to the complaints department and then to the parliamentary ombudsman to get this done.
My question is whether I have any grounds to ask for damages from the Home Office for their delay ion paying back this amount because it has thrown my financial situation into serious distress.
Will I need legal representation for this?
The email mentions near the end that I can write to them if I am not satisfied.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
